There's a street kid lifting bread from a market stall in Agrabah, a princess sneaking out the palace gates because the suitors are unbearable, and a sorcerer with a parrot who has plans for the throne. There's a cave full of gold no one is supposed to touch, a lamp nobody's supposed to find, and a wish nobody's supposed to make. Are you the diamond in the rough, the princess who refuses to be a prize, the genie who'll riff for ten thousand years, or the vizier with the snake staff? Take this 24-question quiz to find out.

About Aladdin
Disney's Aladdin opened in November 1992 and became one of the studio's defining Renaissance-era musicals. Adapted loosely from the One Thousand and One Nights story Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, the animated film follows a street thief in the fictional desert city of Agrabah who finds a magic lamp, releases the Genie inside, and uses three wishes to court Princess Jasmine while contending with the sorcerer Jafar. Robin Williams's Genie became one of the most celebrated voice performances in animation history, the soundtrack (A Whole New World, Friend Like Me, Prince Ali) won Oscars and Grammys, and the film spawned two direct-to-video sequels and a Disney Channel animated series throughout the 1990s.
The 2019 live-action remake, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, and Will Smith stepping into the Genie role, grossed over a billion dollars worldwide and reintroduced Agrabah to a younger generation. The live-action film expanded Jasmine's role considerably (giving her the new song Speechless) and recontextualized several of the original beats for modern audiences. Aladdin remains a Disney Parks staple, a Broadway mainstay, and one of the most-streamed Disney+ titles when families are looking for a guaranteed hit. The cast is small, the personalities are vivid, and Disney built each character around a clear archetype that holds up across the animated original, the live-action remake, and the Broadway musical. This quiz works for fans of any version.
Each Aladdin character represents a different theory of what to do with what you've been given (or not given). Aladdin is a streetwise charmer pretending to be more than he is and learning that the real version was always enough. Jasmine is the princess refusing to accept that her gilded cage counts as a life. Genie is unlimited cosmic power packaged as a stand-up comedian who just wants to be free. Jafar is intelligence corroded by resentment of the people above him on the ladder. Iago is the schemer who outsources his own ambition to a louder villain. Abu is loyalty in a furry package. Picking which of these you actually are is unexpectedly clarifying.
Meet the Characters
Each result in this quiz is anchored in a real character from Aladdin — here's a quick guide to who you might end up matched with.
Aladdin
The Diamond In The Rough
You came up with nothing and you're not ashamed of it — but you'd be lying if you said you didn't want a little more. You're quick, charming, and sometimes a little too good at pretending to be something you're not. Underneath the act is someone with a real heart and a real code: protect the kid, share the bread, never sell out the friend who got you here.
Jasmine
The Princess Who Won't Be Bartered
You grew up in a palace and were never allowed past the wall. You read every book in the library, talked back to every suitor, and decided a long time ago that you would not be 'won' like a prize. You're sharp, principled, deeply curious about the world your father tried to keep from you — and you're done being told what a princess looks like.
Genie
The Cosmic Riffer
Ten thousand years in a lamp and you came out with a stand-up routine, twelve impressions, and a relentless need to make somebody laugh. You're loud, generous, deeply lonely, and the most loyal friend anyone in this story has. Your magic is absurd. Your soft spot for the people who treat you like a person is bottomless.
Jafar
The Vizier With A Plan
You're patient. Decades-patient. You've been the second smartest person in the room your whole career, watching a sleepy sultan run the kingdom, taking notes. You know exactly which palace doors are unlocked, which guards take a bribe, and which prophecy talks about the cave. The throne is just a matter of timing — and you've got the timing.
Iago
The Loud Mouth On The Shoulder
You're sarcastic, scheming, and absolutely fed up with everyone in this palace. You've been forced to mimic a sultan's voice for years and you have OPINIONS about it. Loyal, grudgingly, to the one person who feeds you crackers — but if a better deal walks past you'll consider it. Loudly. While insulting everyone in earshot.
Abu
The Lifter With A Conscience
You're chaotic, mischievous, and the only reason your best friend ever has dinner. You'll grab the apple, the necklace, the sandwich, and somehow the keys — all in one swipe. People underestimate you because you're small and you screech a lot, but when it matters you're the one who comes back to the cave for the lamp.
How This Quiz Works
Every question presents you with options that explore different sides of the cast. As you answer, your match builds gradually toward the character you most resemble.
At the end, the character you most closely match becomes your result. The match percentage reflects how strongly your answers leaned toward that character versus the runners-up. A high match means your personality clearly fit one archetype; a closer call means you're a blend, which is just as common.
We don't ask for your email, sign-up, or any personal info to see your result. Take the quiz, get your character, share it if you want, and that's it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this quiz based on the animated original or the live-action remake?
Both. The personality profiles for each character are consistent across the 1992 animated film and the 2019 live-action remake, so the results work either way. The questions are calibrated to the core characterizations, not specific plot beats from one version.
Can I get the Genie as a result?
Yes. The Genie is one of the six character results, and he's a more common match than people expect. The trait combination (high humor, high warmth, deep desire for freedom) is one most viewers either have or wish they had.
Why isn't Sultan or Razoul in the results?
We picked the six characters with the deepest written personalities and the widest spread of traits. Sultan is sweet but his arc is mostly reactive, and the palace guards (Razoul included) are functional antagonists rather than full character matches. Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Jafar, Iago, and Abu cover the personality space the best.
