About Fallout
Amazon Prime Video's Fallout, developed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and based on the legendary Bethesda video game series, became one of the biggest TV launches of 2024 and proved with Season 2 that the wasteland still has plenty of stories left to tell. Set 200+ years after a nuclear apocalypse, the show follows Lucy MacLean — a Vault-Tec dweller raised in the sealed-off optimism of Vault 33 — as she ventures to the surface for the first time in search of her kidnapped father, Hank.
What makes Fallout work as adaptation, where so many video-game shows fail, is that it took the games' tonal trick (50s-utopia branding wallpapered over post-apocalyptic horror) and built characters fluent in both registers. Lucy's relentless decency, The Ghoul's two-century-old cynicism wearing a smile, Maximus's brittle Brotherhood ambition, Hank's serene authority hiding institutional rot, Moldaver's true-believer convictions, Wilzig's regretful brilliance — every character is a different theory of what survives the end of the world. This is exactly what makes a personality quiz anchored in the Fallout cast more than a fan exercise.
Fans take this Fallout quiz because the wasteland's residents represent fundamentally different responses to systemic collapse. Lucy still believes the rules; Cooper has lived long enough to know there are no rules; Maximus wants someone to give him rules. Whichever character you score reveals which response is yours, and how you might actually carry yourself if everything you knew about the world stopped working.
Meet the Characters
Each result in this quiz is anchored in a real character from Fallout — here's a quick guide to who you might end up matched with.
Lucy MacLean
The Vault-Dweller Optimist
You believe in rules, in fairness, in giving people the benefit of the doubt — and you keep believing it even when the world keeps proving you wrong. Beneath the cheerful surface is real grit; you'll do whatever it takes to find what you came for, but you'd really rather not have to.
The Ghoul
The 200-Year-Old Cynic
You've seen enough to know there are no good guys, no clean wins, and no rules worth dying for unless you choose them yourself. Cold on the outside, surprisingly principled underneath. People underestimate the toll your survival has taken — and the loyalty it can still inspire.
Maximus
The Reluctant Knight
You wanted purpose, and the institution gave you a uniform, a code, and a story you were willing to believe in. Now the story is breaking down and you're trying to figure out who you really are without it. Earnest, ambitious, and dangerously close to learning the truth.
Hank MacLean
The Composed Patriarch
Calm, in control, beloved by your community, and quietly carrying secrets that would unravel everything if anyone looked too closely. You've learned that leadership often means carrying weight alone — and you're willing to make ugly choices if you believe they keep the people you love safe.
Moldaver
The True Believer
You are absolutely certain about what's right, what's wrong, and what has to happen for the world to be better — and you're willing to spend decades, lives, and your own soul to make it real. Visionary or zealot depends on who's writing the history.
Dr. Wilzig
The Regretful Genius
Brilliant, soft-spoken, and quietly tortured by what your intelligence has been used for. You've spent your life trying to undo damage you helped create. People who really know you trust you with their lives because you've already weighed yours and chosen what matters.
How This Quiz Works
Every question presents you with options that explore different sides of the cast. As you answer, your match builds gradually toward the character you most resemble.
At the end, the character you most closely match becomes your result. The match percentage reflects how strongly your answers leaned toward that character versus the runners-up. A high match means your personality clearly fit one archetype; a closer call means you're a blend, which is just as common.
We don't ask for your email, sign-up, or any personal info to see your result. Take the quiz, get your character, share it if you want, and that's it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the quiz based on the show or the games?
Primarily the Amazon Prime show, since that's where most viewers are coming in from. But the personality archetypes (the optimistic Vault dweller, the world-weary ghoul, the conflicted Brotherhood squire) are consistent with the games' lore, so longtime fans will recognize their characters either way.
Will the quiz spoil Season 2?
No. Questions are personality-based and avoid plot events from any episode. Safe to take whether you've finished both seasons or only watched the first.
Why is The Ghoul a good character to score?
Cooper Howard / The Ghoul is the show's moral center, oddly. He's been the wasteland long enough to have stripped away every comfortable illusion about what the world is and isn't, and what's left underneath is harder, lonelier, and more honest than any of the Vault-Tec ideology Lucy grew up with. Scoring The Ghoul means you've ranked high on disillusioned competence — a very particular kind of strength.
