Best Landman Episodes, Ranked
All 20 episodes of Landman scored and sorted — from the 8.6/10 high of S1E9 to the 7.6/10 of S1E3.
Our rating: 8.18/10 average across 20 episode reviews (best 8.6, lowest 7.6).
Landman runs warm and steady — twenty episodes, every one between 7.6 and 8.6, which tells you the floor is high and the ceiling is reachable but never wild. The peak is the back half of Season 2. S2E9 “Plans, Tears, and Sirens” and the finale S2E10 “Tragedy and Flies” both top out at 8.6, and they sit there for opposite reasons: E9 is the rupture, with Cami firing Tommy by the river, while E10 is the rebuild, Tommy walking off to start his own company. Set them next to S2E8 “Handsome Touched Me” (8.4), where Cami bets the whole company, and you get a three-episode stretch where the boardroom finally hits as hard as the patch.
Season 1’s high point is its finale, “Tommy Gets Promoted as Cooper Chases Wolfcamp and Monty Dies” (8.4) — Monty’s death is the hinge the second season swings on.
The dips are all early Season 1. The lowest is S1E3, the crash-site episode where Cooper joins Boss’s crew (7.6), with S1E2’s burning well and S1E7’s Monty oil-bet tied just above at 7.8. They’re setup episodes — pieces moving, stakes not yet collected.
Net: Season 2 is the stronger run, averaging higher and owning the top four spots. Season 1 builds the engine; Season 2 drives it.
