Mayor of Kingstown runs hot and tight — 40 episodes packed into a single point of spread, from 7.8 to 8.8. Nothing here is bad; the question is only how high the ceiling goes, and it keeps climbing.

Season 1 is the bumpiest. It opens unsteady and bottoms out at S1E4, “Mike Tries to Contain Kenny’s Debt as Iris Arrives for Milo” (7.8), the one stretch where the show feels like it’s still finding its rhythm. But it recovers into a strong back half and lands the finale (S1E10, the prison riot) at 8.6.

The peak is Season 3. S3E10, “Mike Finds No Skin Left to Shed on the River” (8.8), is the high point of the whole run — a finale where Mike has nothing left to bargain with — and S3E7, “The River Takes Kingstown Past the Last Line” (8.7), sets it up. Season 4 nearly matches it, stacking twin 8.7s: S4E8, “Callahan Brings Mike’s War Home in Family Blood,” and the closer S4E10, “Kyle Takes the Shot Mike Cannot Fire Himself.”

Season 2 is the steady middle — consistent in the low-to-mid 8s, sagging only at S2E7, “Drones Become the New Yard Currency” (8.0). The pattern is clear across all four runs: the show saves its sharpest work for the finales, and gets meaner as it goes.
