About Goblin
Goblin, formally 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,' is the 2016-17 tvN dark-fantasy romance that helped define the modern global K-drama canon. Written by Kim Eun-sook and led by Gong Yoo, it follows Kim Shin, a 939-year-old immortal Dokkaebi cursed to live until his destined bride can end his suffering. That bride is Ji Eun-tak, played by Kim Go-eun, a bright high schooler who sees ghosts and pulls tenderness out of tragedy. Around them orbit Lee Dong-wook's amnesiac Grim Reaper, Yoo In-na's elegant Sunny, and one of Korean television's most memorable supernatural roommate dynamics.
The reason Goblin still hits is not just the romance, the coats, or the immortal-sad-man aesthetic, though all of those became part of its signature. It endures because every major character is built around a wound: memory, guilt, loneliness, fate, unfinished love. The writing turns fantasy rules into emotional pressure, so a sword, a red scarf, a tea room, or a snowy street can feel like destiny tightening its grip. With the 2026 reunion special putting the cast back in the conversation, Goblin remains a drama people revisit when they want heartbreak with mythic scale.
Meet the Crew
Each result in this quiz is anchored in a real character from Goblin — here's a quick guide to who you might end up matched with.
Kim Shin (Dokkaebi)
The 939-Year-Old Goblin
You are 939 years of unfinished business with a soft mouth and a long coat. You carry guilt like a second jacket, you let snow land on your shoulders without flinching, and you appear when somebody needs you whether you meant to or not. You love rarely, completely, and dangerously, because love is the one thing you cannot promise to outlive. You'd rather show up quietly than be thanked, and most of the warmth in a cold room is just the fact that you walked into it.
Ji Eun-tak
The Goblin's Bride
You smile too easily for everything that has actually happened to you. You decide, every single day, that the universe will not have the last word on whether you get to be happy. You hold somebody's hand and mean it. You tell people you're happy to see them out loud. You refuse to be small. You ask big questions to strangers. You believe in candles in the rain, in second chances, and in the stubborn art of choosing sunlight on purpose.
Wang Yeo (Grim Reaper)
The Amnesiac King
You walk through this life with the faint suspicion you've done it before, badly, and you are trying — very quietly, very privately — to do it better this time. You hold a coffee gone cold. You stand in a hat brim pulled low. You don't fix things in conversations; you sit with them. You love slowly because the memory is still landing. You're soft in a way nobody expects from somebody dressed in black, and that softness is most of you.
Sunny
The Reincarnated Queen
You roll your eyes at the weather, the men, the universe, and you mean none of it. You feed your neighborhood, you keep your eyeliner sharp, and you've made a peace with running a restaurant alone after closing because the alternative would require you to admit how soft you actually are. You love guardedly. You don't beg. You'd rather be the woman who walked away than the woman who waited, and the men in your life learn the difference the hard way.
Yoo Deok-hwa
The Chaebol Heir
You assume everyone already loves you, and then once in a while somebody actually does and it floors you. You overspend on gifts, undersell the gesture, and pretend none of it was a big deal. You're unserious about the small things on purpose, and absolutely deadly serious about the people you love, which is the part nobody saw coming. You'll show up early, stay late, and drive across the city in the rain. The hoodie is a feint.
How This Quiz Works
This quiz works because Goblin characters are not just personalities; they are worldviews. Kim Shin carries duty like a curse. Eun-tak survives by choosing wonder anyway. The Grim Reaper hides fear behind procedure. Sunny turns mystery into self-possession. Your match points to how you handle longing, regret, loyalty, and second chances when life refuses to be simple.
At the end, the character you most closely match becomes your result. The match percentage reflects how strongly your answers leaned toward that character versus the runners-up. A high match means your personality clearly fit one archetype; a closer call means you're a blend, which is just as common.
We don't ask for your email, sign-up, or any personal info to see your result. Take the quiz, get your character, share it if you want, and that's it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this quiz spoiler-safe?
Mostly, yes. The questions focus on personality, choices, emotional instincts, and character dynamics rather than major plot reveals. If you have never watched Goblin, you can take it without learning the central twists, though some archetypes will make more sense after a few episodes.
Which result is the rarest?
Sunny is usually the rarest kind of match because her result needs a specific mix: guarded confidence, romantic skepticism, sharp social reading, and a refusal to be defined by anyone else's tragedy. Many fans admire her, but fewer answer like her.
Why is Goblin also called Guardian: The Lonely and Great God?
Goblin is the common international nickname, while 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' is the fuller English title that points more directly at Kim Shin's role. He is not a mischievous Western goblin; he is a Korean Dokkaebi reimagined as an immortal protector.
